Problems printing to a PR53XX series printer:

If you are using driver version 5.01 or 5.02 please uninstall and download our latest driver 5.08 and install.

Laminators

Just one of the many advantages of the PR5300 is its laminators. The PR5302 laminators come as optional units that can be purchased after the printer and can laminate on both sides of the card. Each unit has its own flip-turn unit, so it saves time rather than using the printer's flip-turn unit.

Another feature of the PR5302 laminators is that they can be ganged together and can laminate one card with two different laminate materials - one on each side.



Replacing Ribbon Cartridge:

  1. Turn printer ON and make sure the front service door is closed
  2. Press the “Ribbon Change / Menu” button. You will hear a motor engage which will retract the print head.
  3. Open the front service door of the printer. Flip the green lever, on the upper left hand side, to the up position.
  4. Slide the black ribbon cassette unit out of the printer with slow even force.
  5. Replace with new cartridge or refill existing cartridge with new NiSCA approved ribbon.
  6. Slide the ribbon cassette back into position, flip the green lever back into the locked position, close the service door, and follow LCD menu screen to continue printing.


Replacing a Print Head:

  1. Turn printer ON and make sure the front service door is closed
  2. Press the “Ribbon Change Menu” button. You will hear a motor engage which will retract the print head.
  3. After you hear the print head motor retract the print head turn OFF the printer
  4. Open the front service door of the printer. Flip the green lever up on the upper left hand side to the up position.
  5. Slide the black ribbon cassette unit out of the printer with slow even force.
  6. Press the silver level to the right and gently slide the print head out of the service bay.
  7. Unplug the wire housing from the print head and replace with new NiSCA approved print head.
  8. Reverse steps 5 to 1 to install print head.
  9. Turn printer ON and follow LCD menu screen to continue printing.

Download Utility

In order for the Download Utility to communicate with the PR5300 Parallel Printer, it needs to use an LTP port. In most cases, the PR5300 printer is currently occupying the LTP port that the utility wants to use. The communication protocols will not allow the two to share the port.

When using a PR5300 parallel printer connected to an LPT port, you must reassign the printer to a port other than the port it is physically connected to in the driver port properties.

If you do not assign the printer to another port, the software will display the message, "Could not find the printer". The software will not recognize the printer when it is assigned to the same port that it is physically connected to. Once the printer has been assigned to a new port in the driver, the software should identify the printer and the download should work. After you have completed your download, remember to reassign the printer back to the port it is physically connected to.
