State of New Mexico Selects NiSCA

March 2002, The State of New Mexico, Department of Motor Vehicles standardizes on NiSCA PR5200 and PR5300 printers. Producing thousands of cards per day, the State choose the NiSCA printers based on the print quality, reliability, and ease of use.

The Department began its quest for new printers in early 2001. The search included evaluating all equivalent competitive products from NiSCA, Fargo, Eltron, and Alantek. Their choice was based on a number of factors such as printer reliability, image quality, and ease of use. After months of testing and surveying the State determined the winner to be the NiSCA printers.

The State uses a number of security features on their drivers’ licenses such as security holograms, magnetic encoders, and more, which are all applied inline in one pass of the NiSCA printer, its optional laminator (heat roller) and encoder. The initial installation of the printers began in January of 2002 and the state is pleased with the success of the printers and is especially pleased with the performance and durability of the PR5300.
